Autograph letter signed. Two page letter, possibly written to William H. Herndon. Hanks wrote that his mother, Nancy Hanks, and Abraham Lincoln's grandmother, Lucy Hanks, were sisters. Wrote about other family relationships and Lincoln's religious affiliation. Also includes a positive and a negative photostat of the letter, a 4x5 negative of the letter, and a newspaper clipping of Hanks's obituary
